Story
I don't like running and I'm not very good at it but wanted to set myself a challenge to help raise money for a wonderful charity that helped my family and especially my niece Marnie, so much. My sister and my husband have done challenge after challenge and now it's my turn ahhhh🫣 .
So, why now? In January this year, my life turned upside down when I experienced a stroke. Running has been an important part of my recovery and has given me the motivation to get out there and undertake this challenge, one run at a time.
I know that Marnie will be with me every step of the way. Marnie was born with cardiomyopathy and Noonans Syndrome in May 2016. She required a heart transplant as her little heart was just too poorly. Whilst waiting for a transplant, she was cared for by the amazing teams at The Evelina Children's Hospital in London in conjunction with Great Ormand Street Hosptial. Marnie was a tough little flower and despite everything she sadly died at 6 months old in the October of 2016.
Marnie showed strength and determination every day of her life so now it's my turn to show her what I can do with her fully in my heart and head. I'll need all the help I can get for my next two challenges so if you have any spare money to help a fabulous charity, it'll help give me the oomph I need.
My journey so far:
Couch to 5k- complete ✔️
Running regular ParkRuns ✔️
10km booked 12th October
London Landmark Half Marathon 12th April 2026.
⭐️ my first ever half marathon! I've only ran one 10km in my 20s other than that, 5km has been my limit!
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can. We know first-hand, the massive difference it will make to the lives of the children and families supported by ECHO ❤️
