On Sunday 26th April, I will be running the London Marathon to help raise funds and awareness for a small local charity called The Jay C Trust. This charity was set up by my former neighbour and friend Naina, in memory of her loving husband Jay, who sadly passed away in 2019 at the age of 56 from a brain tumour called Glioblastoma (GBM).
Naina and Jay were more than just neighbours, we kept in touch and became good friends, watching our children grow up together. His diagnosis devastated us all and we saw first hand the impact this had on their family. Jay was a humble and selfless person and never once felt sorry for himself or said, “Why me?”. His main concern was the effect this would have on Naina and their 2 boys, whom he was devoted to.
GBM is the most severe and aggressive type of brain tumour. It can occur at any age and there is currently no cure.
Naina, alongside her family and close friends have worked tirelessly to turn grief into purpose. They have seen the emotional and financial strain families endure, and this small but incredibly worthy charity was created to offer support, relief, and hope during those moments. The charity’s main objective is to offer grants to families who are struggling financially due to the impact of this devastating disease.
Through dedication, resilience and countless hours of hard work, Naina successfully established and officially registered this charity in September 2021.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden for families facing some of life’s toughest moments.
