Sophie's fundraiser for The Malcolm Whales Foundation

Dorset Walk 2025 · 11 July 2025 to 13 July 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Sophie has signed up to participant in The Dorset Walk to raise money for this cause. Damien Whales is Headteacher at Sophie's secondary school and following the passing of his Father in 2008 and to honour his Dad, Malcolm’s memory, Damien, his son, set out to create a legacy in his name.
The Malcolm Whales Foundation is a fundraising cancer charity in memory of Malcolm. The Dorset Walk is an annual event that involves walking 40 miles along the challenging terrain of the Jurassic Coast. The walk starts along the seafront at Weymouth on Friday and finishes at Studland Beach on Sunday.
The Dorset walk started in 2009 with 30 students and staff from Ely College. It was going to be a one off.
However, what we stumbled on was something quite special. Over 15 years and thousands of participants later. It has become an event that introduces and impacts hundreds of people each year. The funds raised fund various projects and most recently Malcolm's Retreat which is a lakeside lodge at Rookery Waters in Pidley, Cambs. This is a free retreat for families and healthcare workers that are affected by cancer.
This is such a great cause which not only benefits those who take part in the variety of events that are arranged, e.g. 10 hours of sport which Sophie & Ryan are also taking part in, but we just love the ethos of supporting families facing difficult times.
We would love it if you could sponsor Sophie. Sophie is determined to complete this walk and we know if she has the support of all our wonderful family and friends behind her when the tough is in front of her, she will overcome the mental and physical strength she'll need to get over the finish line.
Thank you in advance guys. GMS&R xxxx
