Story
In 2025, Maria became a trustee for HDSF, a small, welcoming local charity that offers a wide range fun sports and activities to anyone with a disability or additional need who needs support to access activity.
The charity thrives of keeping busy running 1-1 bikeability sessions during the school holidays, cycling with primary schools across Hertfordshire, or enjoying activities like doughnutting, paddleboarding, adapted cycling, bell boating, pedalos, rowing boats, boxercise, archery, paralympic roadshows, boccia…..the list just keeps growing!!
The Foundation also cater for organisations who would like to take part in corporate activities with a Paralympic twist.
Maria worked for HDSF for many years from secondary school through to university. Having taken some time away, she has realised what a profound effect this charity has had on both my personal and professional development.
As a way of giving back to the Charity, Jack and Maria will be taking part in this year ‘Wheelathon’ fundraiser on 13th August where we aim to do as many laps around a 400m athletics track in one hour on a variety of adapted wheel modes of transport (wheelchairs, trikes, bikes etc).
If you would like to donate to our physical challenge, please follow the link below. Any donation would be hugely appreciated and all of the money raised will help HDSF continue and develop activities for people with additional needs & disabilities in Hertfordshire.
