Story
Our Strength. Our Story. Our Miles.

In February 2024, our lives changed forever.
My husband, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that none of us had really heard of or understood before.
One moment life was carrying on as normal, and the next we were learning a whole new language of hospitals, treatments, blood tests, appointments and medical terminology. Most importantly, we were trying to understand what this meant for my husband — and for all of us as a family.
My husband went through intensive treatment, including a stem cell transplant. We saw the incredible highs and the really difficult lows. We saw the exhaustion, the uncertainty and the fear, but we also saw an incredible amount of strength, courage and determination.
For me and our son, it was a journey we went through alongside him. We learned about multiple myeloma, learned how to support my husband and learned to appreciate the things we once took for granted.
There were times when it was incredibly hard.
But something else happened along the way.
We became stronger.
Cancer doesn't just affect the person who receives the diagnosis. It affects the whole family. It changes you. It changes your priorities, your perspective and the way you look at life.
Through everything, we have been incredibly grateful for the amazing NHS doctors and nurses who have cared for my husband (Russell) and for the support we have received as a family. Their kindness, expertise and compassion helped us through some of the darkest and most uncertain moments.
Russell is still on his journey with multiple myeloma, and our journey as a family continues too.
So, I wanted to do something that felt meaningful.
On 25 April 2027, I will be running the London Marathon for Blood Cancer UK.
I know 26.2 miles will be one of the biggest physical challenges I have ever taken on. But every mile will have a much bigger meaning behind it.
I’ll be running for my husband.
For our family.
For everyone living with blood cancer.
And for all the families who stand beside them.
I want to turn something incredibly difficult that happened to our family into something positive — something that can help raise awareness, support people affected by blood cancer and contribute towards research that can change lives.
My fundraising target is £2,000, and every single donation, no matter how big or small, will help me get there.
If you can donate, share my fundraising page, or simply follow my journey and cheer me on, thank you. It genuinely means more than you know.
This isn't just 26.2 miles.
It's our journey.
Our strength.
Our story.
Our miles. ❤️
Thank you for being part of it.
