Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!
On Sunday 23rd March this year, I will be running the Carlisle Half Marathon (13 miles) to show support for my sister Joan and my dad Jim, and to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
In January this year, my dad began a new treatment regime for prostate cancer. At the same time, Joan was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. Thanks to recent research, she has a treatment plan, too. There are, however, limited options available for tackling this type of breast cancer and other rare cancers.
This year, the Rare Cancers Bill will progress through Parliament. This is a Bill that proposes to help “incentivise research and investment into the treatment of rare types of cancer”.
I am running to help Cancer Research UK in their remit to “transform how we prevent, diagnose and treat” all cancers, including rare types like the one affecting Joan.
My friend Mary will run with me on the day - and you can join in too, by helping me meet my fundraising target!
Please give what you can and, whether you are able to donate or not, please share this link with friends and family. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you!
