Story
Where - Rutland Water, Normanton Church Car Park
When - Sat 21st March, 2.30 gather for 3pm set off
Walkers - Wendy and Miles Hewitt, Mark Goodwin, Diane Cooley, Mary Fryer-Stevens, Rosalind and Martin Heatlie, Cindy Page, Janet Reynolds, Lyndsey Robinson, Mandy and Phoebe Tookey.
Why - Catherine Goodwin lost her life to a Glioblastoma on 6th Feb 2024. Glioblastoma's are the most aggressive brain tumours and currently have no cure. So many people have been impacted by this type of tumour; Mary Fryer Stevens lost her cousin Stuart Fendley, Cathie Branson lost her sister Sheena Branson and Diane Cooley lost her Dad, Robert Hancock. Two of the walkers have Meningioma Brain Tumours, a type of tumour that, whilst not typically cancer have a massive impact on daily life.
As Catherine's best friend, Wendy has arranged to complete this walk with friends and family of Catherine, Stuart, Sheena and Robert to support The Brain Tumour Charity because every step taken and every pound raised will help move them further and faster to tackle brain tumours on three vital fronts – funding pioneering research, providing life-changing support and campaigning for urgently-needed change.
