All funds are being raised for the South Yorkshire Branch of the MND Association
Hello! Since 2019, I've wanted to swim the length of England's largest lake, Windermere, because I'll do anything to avoid running. At 11 miles (18km) long, it will be the longest swim I've ever done (hopefully). As a motor neuron disease (MND) researcher and volunteer for the South Yorkshire branch of the MNDA, I thought it would be nice to try and raise some money for them - as well as keep me motivated whilst I spend more and more of my time staring at the black line at the bottom of the pool.
MND is a devasting disease that results in progressive paralysis and currently there is no cure. All the money I manage to raise will help support families in South Yorkshire who are living with MND.
The Branch is run entirely by volunteers to raise money to support those families in South Yorkshire living with the dreadful disease. The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
