Maria was passionate about spending time in nature and protecting biodiversity.

One of her favourite days during her illness was getting the opportunity to visit a rewilding site near her home in Somerset. Seeing beaver activity, a wild cat and a number of endangered birds was really inspiring and she was sad not to have a future being involved in similar projects during her retirement.
