Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know almost a year and a half ago I was admitted to hospital not knowing what was happening to me. I was so frail I could barely walk/stand, struggling with breathing and my hands were closed like a fist, I was a shell of my former self.
After many tests ruling out stroke, MS etc I was seen by a neurologist who eventually after some degree of anxiety, worry and fear of a brain injury I was diagnosed with a sudden onset of a neurothapy condition.
My first possible diagnosis was Guillain-Barre Syndrome possibly caused by COVID. (No concrete evidence/who knows?)
I spent weeks in hospital and when discharged had to rely upon friends and family to dress me, fix my medication and be pushed around in a wheelchair. I eventually got rid of the chair and have been managing with a stick for some time.
The NHS care was good but I was swiftly aware of the lack of specialists in the neurology sector and wait times but I soon became to understand the dedication they gave to training others (our future)
I have slowly been improving and now feel the need to safely push myself to walk unaided and will aim to walk a mile a day in May and hope to raise towards training and research. 🚶♀️🚶♀️
