Story
On 18th October 2026, Nic, Jodie and I will be running the York Marathon to raise money for Survive.
We know what you’re thinking — not all heroes wear capes 😉 — but in all seriousness, we’re taking on this challenge to support a charity that provides vital, specialist trauma therapy to adult survivors of rape, sexual abuse and sexual assault.
Survive offers life-changing support to people who are coping with the devastating impact of rape trauma. Their work is incredibly important, but like many charities, they are under huge pressure. In 2025, Survive had to close its therapy waiting list because demand was so high and funding was too limited. This has left many survivors facing long delays when they need help the most.
For many victims, there is no clear pathway to access the specialist trauma therapy they need through the NHS alone. Survivors may be referred between services, only to find that the support they need is unavailable or that waiting times are more than a year. During that time, their mental health can deteriorate significantly, leaving them feeling isolated, overwhelmed and without hope.
This is why Survive’s work matters so much.
With more funding, Survive can reopen its waiting list, reduce waiting times, and provide more people with access to specialist trauma therapy, including support for trauma-related PTSD. That support can be life-changing — and in some cases, lifesaving.
By donating, you will be helping survivors access the care they need sooner, while also easing pressure on overstretched NHS services. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
Please support us if you can. Your donation will go directly to Survive through JustGiving, helping them continue their vital work and reach more people in desperate need of support.
Thank you so much for reading, donating, and sharing our page — it really does mean the world.
