Story
💙🌟 I’m running the London Marathon for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation Isle of Man 🌟💙
Lung cancer is the UK’s biggest cancer killer, but despite its deadliness, we don’t have routine lung cancer screening on the Isle of Man. In 2022, I lost my dad just under 6 weeks after his lung cancer diagnosis – a devastating loss that motivates me every day.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has been at the forefront of early detection research and advocacy. Their work has laid the groundwork for a future national lung cancer screening programme, which is now within reach. Through their Targeted Lung Health Check programme, they are detecting lung cancer early in 77% of cases – proof that screening saves lives. This disease can affect anyone including non-smokers and young people.
This cause means so much to me, and I’ve set a fundraising target of £2000 as I take on the London Marathon this year. Every penny will go towards continuing this life-saving work, from screening to research into new diagnostic techniques like blood tests and sputum analysis.
💙 Please support me on this journey and help raise awareness for early detection of lung cancer. Even the smallest donation can make a huge difference in the fight against this deadly disease.💙
Together, we can help save lives. Thank you so much for your support. 🫶🤍
