AJ Bell Great Scottish Run Half Marathon 2025 · 5 October 2025 ·

The Marie Trust is a Glasgow charity tackling the root causes and consequences of homelessness, poverty and trauma. We are a nationally recognised Kings Fund x GSK Award Winner 2025 for our work in tackling health inequalities in homelessness.

Story

This Sunday, I'm running a half marathon to raise vital funds for The Marie Trust, where I work. Your support has never been more crucial.

Since 2009, The Marie Trust has been a lifeline for people affected by homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion in Glasgow. We offer more than just respite; we provide a safe space where people can breathe, feel valued, and rebuild their lives without judgment. Our holistic, trauma-informed services include Counselling and Psychotherapy, Education classes and Hospital Outreach for those facing homelessness upon discharge. More recently we have started a new Art Therapy pilot which has received very positive feedback. We aim to prevent crisis from escalating and end the revolving door of homelessness.

Earlier this year, we lost some of our core funding. This blow came just as demand for our services is increasing, with more Glasgow residents facing homelessness and exclusion than ever before. That's why funding from alternative sources is absolutely critical. Your donation won't just help us survive; it will fund new ventures meeting the needs of the community, so that we can keep being that safe haven people desperately need.

Please support my run and help The Marie Trust continue this vital work.
