Story

Our mum, Marilyn French sadly passed away in Oct of 2026, after living the past few years with PSP. A strong willed and staunchly independent woman, it was a condition that cruelly robbed of her of much of this independence toward the end of her life. Sadly, a few days later my father, Barry French, also passed away after a struggle with dementia. This page is dedicated to their memory, and focused on raising money and awareness of PSP itself

For mum, and us as a family, navigating the tricky effects that PSP had on her was incredibly challenging at times. Treatments and therapies are difficult and the condition leads to symptoms that are hard to live with. Coupled with the fact that it is often misdiagnosed, it’s a condition that requires more support and information for families that are impacted by it.

PSPA is the only UK charity dedicated to creating a better future for everyone affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration.

We will do this by: providing information and support to enable families living with PSP & CBD to live their best possible lives; improving the quality of life for people living with the condition via research and awareness raising; putting the voice of the PSP & CBD community at the heart of what we do.
