Story
I am taking part in the Ramblers Walk to Remember on behalf of my friend Rob who died of muscular dystrophy in 2012. The walk is to raise awareness of Ramblers initiatives and Rob, an active member of Ramblers, was passionate about accessibility for the disabled. He was a lifelong Human Rights campaigner and since his diagnosis campaigned tirelessly to improve access to green spaces, as well as tackling public transport issues where accessibility was inadequate or limited. I have chosen Ramblers focus on disability and public access.
Ramblers are campaigning for provision of better information to be made available on the accessibility of paths, the countryside and green spaces. Styles to be replaced by less restrictive structures for example.
Ramblers work with government to meet their targets in provision of long term plans to improve access to nature for all, regardless of age, physical or mental disability.
In October 2023 I am walking the Seven Sisters path in the South Downs Country Park, starting at Beachy Head and ending at Cuckmere Haven. This was one of our favourite walks.
Please give generously to this important cause to encourage more people to get out into nature and walk for their physical and mental wellbeing.
Thank you,
Marilyn
