Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m raising money for Chilterns Dog Rescue Society while taking on the Ridgeway Challenge, an 86-mile ultramarathon.
I’ll be attempting to run the entire length of The Ridgeway in one go, with no sleep and no real rest, aiming to complete the full 86 miles in a single effort. If all goes to plan, it will take somewhere around 20 hours.
I recently visited the charity and saw firsthand the great work they do for those four-legged, beautiful creations we call dogs. They take in around 20 to 30 dogs at a time and care for them until they can be rehomed.
One thing that really stood out to me is that they have an open-door policy for anything that goes wrong after rehoming. I heard a story about a dog that was returned 11 years later after its owner sadly passed away, and the charity took the dog back in.
Some of the staff are volunteers, and some have dedicated many years of their lives to the charity. The money raised goes towards day-to-day veterinary bills, food, care, rehabilitation, and improving the dogs' quality of life for the dogs. Sometimes funds also go towards larger projects to improve and expand the facilities.
They’re not a huge national charity with endless funding, so organisations like this rely heavily on support from ordinary people like you and me.
Anything you can give genuinely helps, and I appreciate all support along the way.
