Story
As many of you know, Blood Cancer has had a major impact on people I love and I am delighted to be walking with Matthew again to support this amazing charity.
My story started back in 2011 when my daughter, April, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She fought hard and thankfully survived and made it to remission at Christmas that year. It was a truly awful experience and Susanna & I saw first-hand how it impacts people and their families. We were very lucky to make it through with April.
Then in 2021, Matthew Wilson was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Matthew and I worked extremely closely together at Brit and we were in the early stages of building Ki together. Again, I saw the impact on Matthew's heath first-hand and his amazing fight through the treatments and get to the other side. He has remarkable resilience. Since then he has thrown himself into fighting for the cause and has been a true inspiration to many of us who count him as a friend.
At present, only 49% of people will live 5 years after a myeloma diagnosis. Matthew, having worked with Blood Cancer UK to create and establish the Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund, which provides vital support for scientists who are working to find a cure for multiple myeloma. The fund has raised over £6.5m so far, thanks to your generosity.
As we prepare for the Multiple Myeloma Trek on September 20, 2025, our mission is clearer than ever. Currently, our community is proud to support 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are tirelessly searching for the next breakthrough in treatment. The day when we can finally say we have beaten blood cancer is within reach, and these dedicated researchers are determined to finish the job.
However, we cannot do this alone. Every contribution brings us one step closer to a future free from blood cancer. Join us in this fight; together, we can make a lasting impact and bring hope to those affected by this disease.
