Story
In 2022, my father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Over the past three years, my wife and I have witnessed a rapid decline in his health. Once a fit and very active man, he is now bed-bound and reliant on 24-hour care. Parkinson's is a cruel disease, with over 40 symptoms that can include tremors, rigidity (stiffness), slowness of movement, mild memory and thinking problems, sleep disturbances, pain, and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
Parkinson's disease occurs because some of the nerve cells that produce dopamine have stopped working. This leads to a wide range of symptoms that can vary greatly from person to person. The progression of the disease can change from day to day, and even from hour to hour.
My wife and I are raising funds to support Parkinson's research and to help improve the lives of those affected by this debilitating condition.
We will be taking part in the London Summer 26 Mile walk along the Thames path.
Your donation will make a significant difference in the fight against Parkinson's. Thank you for your generosity and support.
