Story
Every day, freelance journalists risk their lives to get the news we rely on, and we are proud to stand with them by supporting the Rory Peck Trust (RPT) — a leading organization dedicated to protecting and empowering freelance journalists through essential safety training, crisis support, and mental health resources.
We’re back in action! Mark, Bill, and I are once again taking on a series of grueling endurance events — not just a triathlon, but multiple challenges — to raise vital funds for the RPT. This past weekend (20th July), I completed a 300-mile ride from London to Manchester as part of this effort, and it’s just one leg of the journey we’re on to support those reporting from the front lines.
Right now, the Rory Peck Trust’s Crisis Fund is under immense strain, while demand for its Therapy Fund and Safety Training programs continues to rise. Your support is more important than ever. Every donation helps provide life-saving resources to journalists who often work without institutional backing.
Together, we can ensure the Rory Peck Trust remains a lifeline for freelance journalists for the next 30 years and beyond. Thank you — from all of us at Reuters, the Rory Peck Trust, and the global freelance community — for standing with those who risk everything to keep the world informed.
London to Manchester

the route wasn’t all road- I was often directed (thanks gmaps) onto old railway lines - long gone - converted to walking ways and canal side paths; bumpy but scenic and safe.
