Mount Snowdon trek · 19 March 2023
A couple of years back my best mate John and I decided to climb/ hike up Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa ("Er with-va) for fun. Well actually we decided on three ascents in 2 days, for fun! Anyone that knows us will know this is completely normal behaviour.
That's the background, now forward wind >>>>>>
John is diagnosed with cancer months before we were due to leave so the trip was cancelled. Months later whilst treatment is going very well for john, my Dad is diagnosed with cancer!
Although different cancers and different outlooks they have two very amazing things in common, me and Macmillan Cancer Support. The difference is I will always be amazing... Macmillan need your money to carry on being amazing and they really have been amazing.
The trip is completely self funded, everything you give goes to Macmillan, so please give generously. In return John and I will photograph and video all the fun we have for your enjoyment and my/ our you tube channel. You can already see some practice filming, using drones and expensive phones, in preparation for the Bennett and Burrows Big Weekender.

It costs around £33 per hour for a Macmillan Nurse, helping people living with cancer and their families to receive essential medical, practical and emotional support through all the way through their cancer journey.
A Macmillan grant is a one off payment of £350. These grants can be a lifeline and help cover some of the additional costs that cancer brings, such as travel to appointments, extra clothing or heating bills, especially through the current cost of living crisis.
The Buddy System is a 1-1 phone call with someone that knows what it is to go through or support someone with cancer. It costs around £14 per call. This service helps people who feel alone, or don’t want to burden their family with their worries. Having a Buddy to chat to means they are supported through their cancer journey.
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
