Story
During the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (late May), I will be undertaking my 150 Challenge to raise money for YMCA Northumberland who are celebrating their 150th Anniversary this year. The charity provides grassroots youth programmes that support and empower young people to help them reach their true potential. It’s a difficult time to be young right now, and we are finding more and more people in need of the support YMCA Northumberland can offer.
So the challenge, over a 48 period, I will complete the following 10 physical activities;
150 km of Cycling, 150 lengths of Swimming (3.75km), 150 minutes of Running (approx. 15 miles), 150 floors on the Stair Machine, 150 Press Ups, 150 Sit Ups, 150 Burpees, 150 Squats, 150 Lunges and 150 Star Jumps.
And then, yes, I am running the Great North Run, 10 years after my last effort. Why not add another challenge to this special anniversary year?!
As a Trustee, I see the amazing work this charity does for young people in the community, so my aim is to raise £1500 (£10 for every year we are celebrating). And as an added bonus, for every £1 that you donate to this challenge I will personally donate 5p to the MND Association, which is a charity close to my family, and 5p to the RNLI, who do a fantastic job keeping people safe on a coastline we love up here in the North East.
