Story

The Fangfoss Zip Wire – Part of Our Park’s Story

For many years, the zip wire at Fangfoss Jubilee Park has been one of the park’s most popular and memorable features. Generations of children have grown up using it, and families come from Fangfoss and the surrounding villages to enjoy the park.

It is much more than simply another piece of play equipment. The zip wire gives older children something exciting and challenging to do outdoors – encouraging confidence, physical activity and, most importantly, fun. It also helps make Jubilee Park somewhere that children continue to want to visit as they grow older.

When the original zip wire reached the end of its usable life, the community faced a choice: lose this much-loved feature or work together to replace it.

We chose to bring it back.

A huge amount of work has already gone into the project. Plans have been developed, groundwork undertaken and the new concrete foundations installed. The aim is not simply to replace what was there, but to create a new zip wire that can serve the village and wider community for many years to come.

The challenge now is funding. Rising construction, steel and engineering costs have left the project with a significant funding gap.

That is why we are asking local residents, businesses and friends of Fangfoss to help us finish what we have started.

The foundations are in. The community has done the groundwork. Now we need your help to get the zip wire flying again.

Every donation, raffle ticket, sponsorship contribution and offer of support will help bring this much-loved part of Jubilee Park back to life.

Please donate a minimum of £10 and we will enter you in our Super Raffle to win a Wolds Glider Experience, a Pottery Masterclass with Gerry Grant, £250 worth of logs ready for the winter, your next MOT for free at Pocklington Motor Centre or Wolds View Garage, £50 off at Peter Wynn Tyres, a voucher for Hands that Heal and £20 to spend on David Smith Bedding plants.

Unfortunately as giving prizes we can't accept Gift Aid but please ensure you leave your details so that we can contact you. We will make the draw on December 8th in good time for Christmas.
