Story
For a long time, I have dreamed of completing an "Iron distance" triathlon. This year, that dream is becoming a reality as I prepare to take on the challenge of swimming 3.8km, cycling 180km, and running a marathon of 42.2km on Saturday, 30 August 2025. The journey will begin at 07:00 and will last for an incredible 12 to 13 hours.
I am undertaking this monumental task not just for personal achievement but to support Lisburn Outlook, an organization dedicated to promoting social, cultural, and recreational activities for blind and partially sighted individuals in the Lisburn area. Through my regular tandem bike rides with friends from Lisburn Outlook, I have witnessed firsthand the joy and freedom that comes from being active together in our beautiful local environment.
This August, I am also participating in the campaign "Two saddles are better than one to cycle 1000 in August," which aims to raise vital funds for this cause. My target is to raise £1,000 GBP to help ensure that more people can experience the joy of cycling and community engagement.
I invite you to join me on this journey. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those who benefit from Lisburn Outlook's programmes.
