Story
On the morning of 19th February 2024, my dad called unusually early. I knew something was wrong. “Mum’s had a stroke.”
It was devastating. She lost movement in her right hand and the ability to speak. As a family, we sought the best support—private speech therapy, physiotherapy, and a stroke support group. Her speech therapist recommended Headway in Pinner, NW London.
Since then, Mum and Dad have attended every Wednesday. The support, encouragement, and care from the Headway team have been incredible.
That’s why I’m running the Whitstable and Herne Bay Half Marathon to raise funds for Headway North West London.
Any donation—big or small—would mean the world.
Headway NW London supports people affected by acquired or traumatic brain injury through support groups and a dedicated day centre, helping survivors rebuild skills, confidence, and community.
Thank you.
