I served 24 years in the Armed Forces and loved the physical challenges it gave me. I now work as a Security Officer at SRH and I have maintained my passion for physical challenges. This year on the 4th & 5th July I will be tackling the WAUT Wales Ultra Trail 50 miler around the beautiful Welsh Llyn Peninsula Coast Line and then to make it even more of a challenge on the following weekend 12th & 13th July, I will be taking on the Snowdon 24hr challenge, attempting to summit Wales' highest peak as many times as I can possibly manage within the 24hr alloted time limit.

2 gruelling events to test my mind body and soul and I am doing it all to raise money for a great charity - Rise Above Cancer.

Rise Above Cancer charity is close to my wife’s heart as she has worked at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust for many years as a Cancer Nurse Specialist, a Personalised Cancer Care Manager and now as a Clinical Cancer Educator. I raised £1500 for the same charity in 2023 and my wife has challenged me to beat that years efforts!

Rise Above Cancer comes under STSFT charitable funds and supports cancer patients and their families across South Tyneside and Sunderland. The charity fundraises to help improve the quality of life of our patients and help them get access to the services that can make a difference.

They depend on the funds raised to continue our support, including:

•Information and support on the practical and emotional issues of cancer

•A listening ear

•Signposting to relevant support agencies both local and national.

•Complementary therapy for both patients and carers

•Bandana service

•Referrals for legal concerns/will writing

•Counselling services

•Benefits advice and support.
