Site to Site Cycle - We are cycling 180 miles from our Bristol site to our site in Bolton in a single day · 27 July 2024

SARA is the largest multi-disciplinary search and rescue organisation in the UK. It operates inshore lifeboats on the tidal Severn, Wye and Usk, and provides inland water and land search & rescue throughout the Severn Area, 24x7x365 with over 150 qualified all-volunteer crew from 6 Stations.

Story

14 colleagues and friends are cycling from our Bristol site to Bolton site from sun rise to sun set, covering over 300km, to raise money for Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA). This charity was chosen due to its location covering the Bristol area and due to one of our colleagues having first hand experience of the challenging work they do by being one of their volunteers.

SARA is a volunteer lifeboat and inland search and rescue charity, with lifeboat and rescue stations along the length of the River Severn.

The money raised will help to support the valuable work they do and ensure they have the best equipment to keep themselves and the people they rescue safe.

The people taking part in the challenge are: Mark Hogan, James Quigley, Andrew Simmers, Jack Martin, Adrian Woodhouse, Graeme Laycock, Andy Cooke, James Wadsworth, Magnus Mackay, Lewis Shutler, Drew Sawdon, Nick Pashley, Steven Lee and Denham De Alwis
