Story
Hello, my name is Mark, and I am a first year student in UL. This August a group of students from Limerick and I will be taking on the challenge of summiting the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise critical funds for the Meningitis Research Foundation who aim to defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030.
Meningitis is an infection of the lining that surround the brain and spinal cord. It can affect anyone, but is most common in babies, young children, teenagers and young adults. Meningitis can be very serious if not treated quickly. It can cause life-threatening sepsis and result in permanent damage to the brain or nerves. 1 in every 20 cases result in a death.
Meningitis Research Foundation, which was founded in 1989, funds vital research into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia, raises awareness of the diseases, and offers support to those who have been affected by the disease. The money that you donate will be spent by the MRF on all of this vital work.
All donations big or small would be greatly appreciated and go towards helping a great cause.
Thank you!
