Story

Wing Walk Update – For Those Who Stayed With Me

I’ve been wanting to write this for a while.

To everyone who supported my Wing Walk for Cure Usher Syndrome from the very beginning… thank you. Truly.

When I first signed up to do this, it was about pushing myself to do something bold for a cause that means everything to our family. And when you donated, shared, and encouraged me, it felt like we were all in it together.

Then, just before I was due to take to the skies, everything stopped.

The wing walk company went into liquidation following a tragic accident that took the lives of an instructor and a first-time charity skydiver. It was devastating, and suddenly this challenge we’d all backed simply couldn’t happen.

But through all of that, something stayed constant — your support.

Not one of you asked for anything back. Not one of you stepped away. You trusted that somehow, someday, I’d still do what I promised.

And that has stayed with me.

So I’m incredibly relieved (and a bit emotional, if I’m honest) to say…

it’s back on.

I’ve found a new company, Ethal Dares, and I will now be taking to the skies in Leeds on 11th July 2026.

This wing walk will carry every single one of those early donations with it. Every message. Every bit of belief. This isn’t just my challenge anymore — it belongs to all of you who stood by it when it looked like it might never happen.

Now we go again.

If you were one of those early supporters, thank you for your patience and your trust — I’ll be thinking of you when I’m up there.

And if you’re just finding this now, I’d love you to be part of it too. Help me raise awareness, share the story, and if you can, support the fundraising that will help protect sight for children living with Usher Syndrome.

If you’re able to donate, share, or simply spread the word, it will help us take this even further — and bring us closer to the breakthroughs our children are waiting for.

One gene. Two senses. No time to lose.

.

Hi, I’m a Dad of two amazing children with Usher syndrome. It’s a very rare condition that leads to dual sensory loss. Currently, they both wear hearing aids to communicate effectively, but we know that eventually, they will lose their eyesight. There is no cure for this condition, and time is not on our side.

My partner and I are committed to raising awareness about Usher syndrome and are determined to raise funds for research aimed at halting or reversing the sight loss associated with it. We believe that every contribution can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this condition. This charity is dedicated to funding research into a cure for Usher syndrome—the leading cause of genetically inherited hearing and sight loss—while also raising awareness about this condition that affects over 400,000 people worldwide.

We would be incredibly grateful for your support in this endeavor. Your contributions will not only help fund vital research but also bring attention to the challenges faced by families like ours. Together, we can make a significant impact and work towards a brighter future for those living with Usher syndrome.
