# Running the Brighton Marathon 2027 in Memory of My Nan, Peggy ❤️
In April 2027, I’ll be taking on the Brighton Marathon for a very special reason — to raise money for **Alzheimer’s Society in memory of my beautiful Nan, Peggy, affectionately known to us as “Sticks” because of her walking sticks\.**
My Nan was a truly loving, adorable woman who brought so much happiness to our family\. She gave us countless memories that we will treasure forever, and although she is no longer with us, the love she gave us will never fade\.
Peggy raised our mum, Pam, who has gone on to be an inspiration in the upbringing of me and my sisters\. The values, love and strength she passed down through our family are something we will always be grateful for\. Her legacy lives on through all of us\.
The photograph accompanying this page is especially precious to me\. It captures my Nan, Peggy, watching over a very young me, my wife Kasey and our newborn son, Kavanagh\. Looking at that picture reminds me of the love that surrounded us and the special place Nan will always hold in our lives\. I know that, in spirit, she’ll be watching over me on marathon day, cheering me on every step of the way\.
There’s another special connection to this challenge, too\. My son, Kavanagh, will also be running the same marathon in honour of his grandad Tommy, and my father\-in\-law\. Knowing that we’ll both be taking on this incredible challenge for people we love makes it even more meaningful\.
Running 26\.2 miles will be a huge personal challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by people living with dementia and the families who care for them\.
By supporting Alzheimer’s Society, I hope to help raise awareness, fund vital research and support families affected by dementia, so that fewer people have to face this journey alone\.
**Every donation, no matter how big or small, will mean the world to me and help make every mile worthwhile\.** If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would be just as appreciated\.
This one’s for you, Nan\. ❤️
For all the love, all the memories and everything you gave us\.
I’ll be thinking of you every step of the way, and I hope I make you proud\.
**Forever loved, forever missed, and always in our hearts\.**
Lots of love,
Your grandson ❤️
