Mark's 24h Swim for Level Water

24hr Swim Relay: Lake32 · 14 September 2024 to 15 September 2024 ·
After learning to swim (properly!) 8 years ago and completing my first 10k marathon swim in 2023, I am taking on my next swim challenge;
>>>TO SWIM 1 MILE EVERY HOUR FOR 24 HOURS! <<<
YES, even through the night! To give you some scale of this challenge, 21 miles is the distance of swimming across the British Channel (from Dover here in the UK to Cap Gris-Nez in France!).
This is going to be a challenge that will test my body and mind to its limits. 10km (6.25 miles!) is the furthest I have EVER swam. My body doesn't work well in the cold as I suffer with 'Reynaud Syndrome', a medical condition which reduces blood flow to the end arterioles (basically makes my fingers and toes go white and numb) so I'm hoping that my fingers (or toes) don't drop off during this challenge. The cold will be my biggest obstacles, well that and swimming 24 miles in the dark whilst fighting sleep deprivation!
Whilst doing this I am raising money so children with disabilities can enjoy the water as much as I do.
Just £15 can change a life. Please support me in this epic challenge by donating.
Level Water use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities. In 3 years, they have quadrupled their reach from 200 kids (2021) to 1,000 kids (2024) and increasing their pool reach from 48 pools to 168 pools across the UK. Every donation directly helps more children to swim, so I couldn't think of a better (smaller) charity to support for my biggest swim challenge to-date.
Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water and who knows, maybe one of these kids will go on to represent Team GB in the next Paralympics...Now how AMAZING would that be!
Wish me luck and thank you all for your generosity and always supporting me over the years. It's always very much appreciated.
