Blesma, The Limbless Veterans helps all serving and ex-Service men and women who have lost limbs, or lost the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.

Story

Dear friends and supporters,

The training has finished and its now time to embark on the mighty Cape Wrath Trail - a few years in the planning, this personal goal will also provide an opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.

The Cape Wrath Trail is a 400 km long distance walk from Fort William to the northwesternmost point of mainland Britain and is one of the worlds finest (and toughest) long distance hikes. The route is unmarked, passing through magnificent wild landscapes across most of the north west coast of Scotland via Morar, Knoydart, Torridon and Assynt, winding through its most beautiful glens and mountains. I'll be self supported and have 3 weeks to complete the trail.

Blesma is dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the loss of use of a limb, an eye or loss of sight. Supporting men and women in their communities throughout the UK and overseas.

Blesma works tirelessly for all its Members when the conflicts that have affected their lives are no longer a focal point in the nation’s media. Since 1932, Blesma has been the only national Service charity that supports limbless veterans for the duration of their lives. Blesma members range from the youngest amputee veterans to those who fought in WWII, some having lived with limb loss for more than half a century. Modern medicine transforms the physical injury, but it is a complicated process to treat the emotional trauma and related lifelong health problems.

Blesma provides a network where Members not only enjoy support from a professional Welfare Team, having the opportunity to engage with others who have similar injuries and backgrounds to themselves, building an important fellowship with each other to overcome everyday battles.

If you can, please support Blesma, an amazing group of selfless people who work, support and pass on life changing assistance to our veterans.

I will post the occasional update with progress and hopefully some photos.

Thank you all for your kind support and donations.

Mark
