Mark's fundraiser for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

Mark Love is raising money for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

Team: Team fundraising for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

10/ 10/ 2025 Well it looks like the first years fundraising is nearly over

My first challenge was 1,000,001 steps (475 miles)

I have changed to 1,000 miles

Exactly 1 year ago I couldn't walk more than 400 mtrs without resting

and at most 2 miles, without having to go to bed after

Here I am as a team (people who have joined me) on £15,100

With a mighty mighty challenge on the 17th and 18th OCTOBER

My sister who has passed was a avid long distance football fans, and since I am nearing the 1,000 miles , I thought it would be good to really try to raise more in here and many other people's names who I know have passed from Cancer and its associated problem, treatment affect and generally batter their lives. Myself losing a kidney only 2 years ago, and many more sufferers.

I am going to attempt to Everton, Liverpool, then a long walk through the night to Man United, Man City and hopefully finish at Stockport County in time for kick off on Sat 18th. 46.5 miles and I hope 22 hours done.

No support just me and !!

If anyone can find any reporters, Journo's or people to promote, Be very grateful - the same goes for donations and interest from the clubs named .

Everton 17th 3.00pm

Liverpool 17th 4.30 pm

United 18th 7.00am

Man City 18th 10.00am

Stockport County approx 1.00 pm

DATELINE 22 09 2025

Through the encouragement and my own stubborness, I have now got past £6k and the group raising is very nearly £ 12k

I am full of injuries, after the recent Altrincham 10k, the Dunham walk of life

8.7k very very wet, and a brilliant fall.

2 more events over the next weekends

+ Plus plus my own total, I am today reach 850 miles / 1400 km or a number bending 1,877,371 steps. Thanks for the encouragement

After I get the 798 steps of the Hilton Tower next weekend then the Tatton 10k the weekend after I am setting my sights on 1 more silly one this year as I zoom in on 1,000 miles.

Next year for my 60th, I have 6 different activities targeted; from Parachute Bungee x2 ,Marathon , Wingwalk and just one more moment of brilliance/ lunacy

Best to all

Feel free to read all of this :

EDIT 21 07 25 Next Team event Tatton 10k / 5k - 4th October

Continually looking for group events and fundraising opportunity :

10K, Marathon, 17 mile walks, bungee, anything that can increase enthusiasm and opportunities, My own Now 1,000 mile target is over 65% done, and after the successful Macclesfield to Manchester, we as a team are very nearly at £11,500 with myself on just under £6,000

The plan is just to keep going, opening challenges up for all and everyone and grow into a fundraising concept that can go far and deep into helping

The Christie out, but will also be charitably agnostic, if someone wants to join us to raise for another purpose then by all means we will support you.

EDIT 18/06/25 I have changed to a 1,000 miles

I'm 17 miles from reaching 1million steps, lets keep rolling

Now building as a team **

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. EDIT 01/06/2025

Hi, and thanks for viewing my page, and here are my 1million and one reasons for fundraising.

Since the start of this walk at April1st (same day I got my 2 year clear) I have amazed with support, good wishes, help and just how much

The Christie group of hospitals mean to me and many more.

I lost a kidney in March 2025, and always have been a fundraiser at heart for multiple charities. Kept telling myself when feeling a bit better, would give back. After losing my sister in late March 25 to a 14 year on and off battle with Cancer, Daz Symes a good mate who incidentally had a kidney out 5 weeks before me, as well as brother in law with Kidney cancer last year.

It has marched me to taking action, long passed are the Manchester 10k's dressed a Pikachu, Minion , Speed, Camera and even the Tango man.

Not wanting to make a single effort of another one of those, I was sat thinking one night how I have a million and reasons to want to talk people I have lost, but also a million and one reasons to give back.

I went on holiday Oct 2024 and could still only muster about 3/4s of a mile at most without having to rest my legs and get my breath back, I had become that unfit and fatigued.

So mad idea's and calculations I decided on a "proper" challenge with no time limit. 1,000,001 and one steps!!, Now I get about 1300/1350 steps per km/2100 per mile. Could I do 200,000 steps per month (93 mile) geez, I will give it go I suppose. ( see last paragraph for changes )

Spoke to the wonderful people at Christies to say I wanted to start my own walk, and here we have it.

Edit Edit : 2month in and I have already reached 800,000 steps, I have lost 17lbs in weight, my feet don't feel like mine. I have started a local strollers group, to get others fitter, some company.

Plus have now just about organized a real challenge

Christie @ Macclesfield to Christie @ Withington 5th July 2025 with as many people as possible raising their own sponsorship. We have 16.5 route, a 5.5 mile and a 1 mile route for all to join in.

Planning all sorts of of other fun, and loving it all

So much so as I get to the 1,000,001I am going to carry, not at the pace I have been going but if I can do 470miles ish to get to the 1,000,001 way ahead of schedule. Why not and thankyou to the contributor with my new nickname " Forrest Lump" keep going. Say Lands and end to John o' Groats which is about 1.8million, but I know what will happen then , I will want to finish at 2,000,001. So that's why and why
