Mark’s 50km walk in Windsor for Alzheimer's Society

Mark Manderfield is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Windsor 50 Ultra Challenge 2027 · 17 April 2027 · Start fundraising for this event

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

First and foremost thanks for taking the time to read my page. This challenge is about testing my endurance, my new found love for long walks as well as raising some money for an amazing cause.

Over the last 14/15 months of my life I’ve worked hard to transform my lifestyle, getting fitter in body and mind, for myself and to be the best dad I can be for my children. Alongside my brother in law and best mate Steve we’ve put some miles in. Just over 4st in difference so far, but still plenty to go, so how do I motivate myself to carry this on for a long time?

Well it comes back to raising some money for the best of causes, my Dad lost his battle with Alzheimer’s back in 2009, and I want to keep his name fresh in the mind of my family and friends, 50km is a long way, right? I’ll need him to be by my side every step. So whilst remembering this terrible illness of our past, there’s still so many amazing people getting diagnosed in current times, and we have to do something.

The Challenge

Get active after the Easter holidays and take on a historic 50km Ultra. From a Windsor Racecourse basecamp 2000 adventurers will head out on looped routes through the Great Park with fantastic views of the Castle, on to Runnymede, along the Thames Path, and taking in some wonderful surrounding countryside. A great sense of achievement!

Expected finish time of the challenge 10-12 hours 🤦

My target is to raise £1,000 this will go towards helping fund research, support services, helplines and support workers.

Slightly selfishly, this challenge is to protect and improve my health, but in the name of my Dad also, and all those suffering with this disease.

Paul Manderfield, for you. X
