Matrix is celebrating 25 years of walking alongside vulnerable young people.

Matrix creates safe spaces, builds trusted relationships, and provides the support young people need to grow in confidence, wellbeing and resilience. Their work truly nurtures, inspires, connects and empowers young people who might otherwise feel left behind.

On 23rd March 2026 Matrix is doing a sponsored walk to honour that milestone and help them continue their life‑changing work.

Coincidentally that date is also my 4-year anniversary working at Matrix! Over this time I have had the privilege of working with, listening to, and supporting hundreds of Yr7-to-Yr13 young people in 1:1 settings. Across my rather long and varied career, I can honestly say that my time at Matrix has felt like the most worthwhile, valuable, and fulfilling role I have had.

The main walk is 25km to mark 25 years, and many of my Matrix colleagues are taking on that challenge.

Personally, I have some health complications that make 25km in one go unrealistic. But I want to do what I can to contribute, so on the day I will be walking 8km. And if I exceed my sponsorship target I commit to another two walks of 8.5km across the Easter holidays - so I will reach 25km, but in stages!
