Story
In April, new data was released that shows that the number of households cutting back on food or missing out on meals altogether is rapidly increasing. 12.8% of households (6.8 million adults and 2.4 million children) are having smaller meals or skipping meals as the cost of living crisis is biting. More shockingly in April 2.4 million adults in went for a full day without eating.
On the 1st June myself and 14 other members of CrossFit Retford will be heading on an adventure to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours.
Our challenge will begin on the morning of 2nd June trekking up Scotland’s highest mountain Ben Nevis, this will be followed by a drive to the Lake District where in the afternoon we will scale England’s highest mountain Scafell Pike and then a drive over night Friday / Saturday morning to summit Wales highest mountain Snowden.
This is a fair endurance challenge to start with, but if we reach the goal of raising £1000 before the 1st June, as a tribute to the millions of people currently going without food I’ll up the ante and personally attempt the whole challenge whilst fasting.
That will mean breakfast before Ben Nevis will be the last calories that I eat before getting to the bottom of Snowden.
The rest of the team wont be attempting this challenge and they will be there to keep an eye on my progress with emergency rations to shove in my face if the s**t hits the fan.
I am a regular intermittent faster so this isn’t new to me, but this duration of fasting and energy expenditure during the fast will be breaking new ground.
Keep upto date with the challenge on the Nicholsons Estate Agents facebook stories and by following me on instagram @the_retford_estate_agent
The other members are also raising money for Babworth Rescue Kennels, so please take a look at their just giving page also.
