Story

My fundraising challenge for 2025 is to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association by running 7 Yorkshire Runs - 3 Marathons and 4 Trail Half Marathon starting at the end of April through to early November. The Marathons are the Leeds Marathon, Yorkshire Dales Marathon and Yorkshire Marathon whilst the Half Marathons will be Burnsall, Kettlewell, Malham and Bolton Abbey.

Why am I doing this??

I am inspired by Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow, their friendship, kindness and determination to succeed in the face of adversity. Very sadly, Rob passed away in June 2024 but Kev continues his fundraising efforts and so will I to help find a cure for this cruel disease that kills a third of people within a year and more than a half within 2 years of diagnosis. Also, I regard myself as extremely lucky that at the age of 62 I still have my health and fitness to allow me to attempt this challenge and therefore be able to help those who are struggling to cope with the effects of MND.

Why am I doing 7 Yorkshire Runs?

Rob Burrow was born in Yorkshire and he wore the number 7 shirt for the Leeds Rhinos Rugby League team and I though this would be a fitting challenge to take on in his memory.

I hope you are able to support me in this and donate any amount, however small or large, to this very worthwhile cause.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for any contribution you feel you are able to make.
