Story
A group of colleagues from Barclays are taking on the "Peak District Mighty Trek" in September, hiking a full marathon (26.2 miles):
An incredible team challenge, journeying through the rolling dales and steep limestone valleys in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park.
I am pleased to be raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
There are 3 million people in the UK living with cancer, but without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries.
I'm supporting this charity in memory of Leigh Reid, a beloved colleague and friend, who sadly passed away on Friday 5 July 2024. Leigh showed tremendous positivity and courage while living with cancer, until his time was unfairly cut short. His workmates remember him for his sense of humour, camaraderie, and intelligence. Despite the challenges he faced, he was dedicated to his job, which he performed exceptionally. We all learned and improved by spending time with Leigh. He will be greatly missed.
Leigh is survived by his wife Alison, and children Jennifer and Alex. The family drew upon support from charities including Macmillan, and with Alison's blessing, I will be raising money for this cause, in tribute to Leigh. I know this thought will motivate me to keep going when I take on the Trek in September.
Barclays will match any funds I raise, up to £1,000. So if I can raise £1,000, Macmillan gets £2,000!
