Story
I’m running the Bath Half to raise funds for IceBreakers, a men’s wellbeing charity helping men connect through nature, challenge and community.
My IceBreakers story started three years ago, when I met some random men by the river at the start of winter. The benefits of cold water have been widely documented, but for me, the real benefit of IceBreakers is the community around it.
Whether it’s asking for recommendations for local services or asking for help dealing with a complex family situation, I’ve never been involved in such a positive group of people. I’ve shared stories with others while swimming down the river or sitting in a sweaty sauna.
It’s the community you didn’t know you were missing. And those random blokes I met three years ago? I now count some of them as my best mates.
Every donation helps IceBreakers launch new chapters, train volunteers and keep its regular sessions free and accessible.
