Doing it for Claire

Mark Scott is raising money for Kidney Research UK
In memory of Claire Scott (was Buttree)

Keswick mountain festival · 17 May 2025

We are the largest charity dedicated to kidney research in the UK. Kidney disease ruins and destroys lives. Treatments are gruelling, relentless. There is no cure. We say this isn't good enough. We will transform kidney health. Kidney disease ends here.

Story

Hello can you help me? I am completing the 3.7KM end to end swim of Derwent water in the Lake District on Saturday 17th May. I would be very grateful if you could use that pound coin you’ve just found in the sofa or that fiver in your jeans pocket to sponsor me. I lost my wife Claire last November to a short and intense battle with a rare blood condition. Claire had Reflux Kidneys disease as a child which resulted in one being removed in her twenties. Her remaining Kidney lasted her years until 2021 when it started to decline and would need a transplant. Claire was incredibly fortunate to get this in December 2022 and gave her a new lease of life. So I am trying to raise funds for Kidney Research UK to help other families not have to go through the heart ache and suffering her family and friends have.
