Mark's Marathon for Bury Hospice

Mark Shonn is raising money for Bury Hospice
In memory of Andrew Shonn

adidas Manchester Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

Bury Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to hundreds of residents and their families across Bury. It will cost to run the Hospice this year £4.5million and we raise 87% of this total, but with the support of our community we continue to provide care and services to those who need it.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running my first marathon to raise funds for Bury Hospice in memory of my dad, Andrew, who passed away aged 65 on the 29th of October 2024 from cancer just five weeks after his diagnosis.

Bury Hospice provided such compassionate care during our final week with our dad, allowing my siblings, David, Felicity and I to focus on being with him in a peaceful environment, rather than trying to manage his care at home.

Bury Hospice is a lifeline for families, offering a safe and comfortable space during incredibly challenging times. Sadly, due to funding shortages, only 8 out of their 12 rooms are currently open. By raising funds, I hope to help Bury Hospice continue their essential work and reopen these rooms so more families can benefit from their support.

Thank you so much for any contribution – every bit helps make a difference in providing compassionate end-of-life care to families in need.
