Story
As many of you know, my dad passed away on the 9th October 2023 at the age of 60. He was cared for at Salisbury Hospital and I am taking on the Walk For Wards along with Steph and Penelope on July 7th 2024 which is 2 days before what would have been his 61st birthday, raising money for the Stars Appeal - Salisbury District Hospital's Charity in memory of my dad, Craig Stevens, who was known by so many as "Choo Choo" as he worked on the railway for 37 years.
My dad became unwell in 2021 and had a number of hospital visits as an outpatient as well as an inpatient throughout 2021, 2022 and 2023 and had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital during that time across various wards including AMU, Radnor and Redlynch and in October 2023, Redlynch were caring for my dad as he became more unwell due to various complications with his health and they were there to support our family and made him comfortable when he sadly passed away on the 9th October 2023.
My dad was always a cheerful & chirpy person who would talk to anyone and remember them even if they only met for a brief moment. He left a big gap in our lives and even in the lives of his neighbours and some of the staff that cared for him in the hospital due to the character he was.
I am raising money for the Stars Appeal Charity as I joked with my dad after lots of different visits and admissions to the hospital that the more hospital visits he has, the more wards I'll need to add to the Stars Appeal Walk For Wards fundraiser. If you would like to help sponsor me to raise money for the Hospital's Charity in my dad's memory, I would be so grateful and I know he would too as he liked to take more biscuits for his cups of tea than what a "normal" person would take.
Any donation, small or big is hugely appreciated and goes a long way to help the hospital's Charity provide things for the patients, from toiletries, free WiFi, tv passes as well as tea and coffee facilities with plenty of snacks to keep patients happy and so much more. They also help fund new machines to speed up diagnostic investigations for patients and to support the staff at the hospital including myself.
This is for you dad.
Love Mark. X
