Story
So, 5 years ago now Derek and I cycled 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats in just 9 days. 5 years on we are ready for another challenge!
So, what's it this time? We plan to complete the Coast to Coast Walk in just 7 days, walking at least a marathon a day, off-road, across peaks and valleys. This trek typically takes between 12 to 16 days! The Coast to Coast Walk across England is one of the most grueling and challenging long-distance trails in the UK
The path covers around 200 miles of England’s most stunning landscapes and has a total elevation of 6,077 meters (19,933 ft).
The route starts along the Irish Sea at the village of St Bees, Cumbria, before crossing the width of the UK and finishes at the North Sea in Robin Hood’s Bay in North York Moors National Park.
We are, once again, delighted to be supporting a truly great small charity, and one that is close to Derek's heart. We will be raising funds for the Galactosaemia Support Group. Derek's son Samuel was born with this rare condition and the GSG provide loads of support to those who live with this and also those who look after someone with it. Recent research done by the GSG has hugely broadened the diet for people with galactosaemia which is invaluable to their health and well-being.
