Story
Thanks for clicking through to this page and checking out my fundraising story: I am part of a group of 30 people undertaking an epic challenge to raise money for two amazing charities.
The two brilliant causes are ONLY A PAVEMENT AWAY and THE LICENSED TRADE CHARITY, and this campaign is #HospitalityRides. The charities do great work supporting vulnerable people, and those at risk of homelessness, to rebuild their lives.
So the training has started for a 400km+ ride that I will be undertaking next April with 29 other hardy souls in the hills and mountains for Cuba, and over a mix of road and dirt tracks / trails.
This will be the fourth overseas challenge I’ve undertaken for these charities, and with this one, there are some key ‘considerations’: The ride itinerary reveals that where we’re going is quite hilly and hot – we’ll be covering around 4000 meters of elevation in 30-degree heat and humidity, with one day featuring 1500 metres of climbing alone, so it promises to be a decent test of fitness, lungs and endurance.
Between now and the ride, I’ll be out cycling 100km+ per week (building to much more in February and March), and also, believe it or not, running (as I need to build general fitness and shift a wee bit of timber) to ensure I am ready to go, come 18th of April. It means cold, early mornings and wet, dark evenings, out on the roads and round the parks.
With your help it will be worth it, as the two charities we are riding for are utterly amazing. They change lives and help some of society’s most vulnerable people, at a time when they need this vital support the most. For more on both these causes, I have included some links below.
Please help us if you can. We would be incredibly grateful for anything you can pledge. For more about the charities, click on these links:
