Team Cure are taking on the 2025 TCS London Marathon, hoping to raise over £100,000 to fund cutting edge research into potential new treatments that could slow, stop or reverse Parkinson's.

Story

I'm taking part in the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Cure Parkinson's because they are here for the cure.

I'm doing this for a very good friend of mine James Grey & my Auntie Val both suffering with Parkinson's. Also in loving memory of my Grandad Ron who sadly passed some time ago from this horrible disease.

So its safe to say this charity is close to my heart and explains my motivation, however I have 2 massive challenges personally in doing the 2024 London Marathon.

1. Actually finishing the 26.2 miles in one piece! Whilst training recently I fractured and tore the ligaments in my left ankle, FFS!

2. Actually raising the 5k for the Charity.

I need everyone to dig deep and give what they can afford to ensure I deliver on my commitment please.

Here's a note from James himself:-

Parkinson’s disease is shit. Trust me, I know. I have been living with it for almost ten years. My symptoms are varied and somewhat unpredictable in both their nature and frequency. They include tremor, dyskinesia, limited movement, slowness (both mentally and physically), constipation, muscle stiffness, staring at things for ages, looking weirdly blank, face not moving to display emotion, anxiety, depression and everyday I'm shuffling. Oh, and it's only going to get worse as it's degenerative. The drugs do work most of the time and I'm able to function on a somewhat limited basis, I still work 4 days a week, but this can be a struggle. There is no cure. This is where you come in. A great friend of mine is going to run his first ever full marathon in London next year and he is doing it for Cure Parkinson’s a charity that attempts to do exactly what it says on the tin. I am very humbled that he is doing this for a charity that could help me and my family, because it's not just me that suffers. So, if you are able then please support Mark (and me) by making a contribution. The target is £5000 but I'm sure we can do better than that!!

Together we will find a cure for Parkinson's.
