The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia is the only grant making trust in the UK to focus solely on aphasia - we do this primarily by funding pioneering research and projects that improve treatment and services. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for those with aphasia, their families and carers.

Story

Thank you for donating!

On 9th March I will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon.

Whilst I don't usually fundraise for these events I am making an exception to raise money for the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia, a condition which my father-in-law has been struggling with for some time now.

Aphasia

Aphasia is when a person has difficulty with their language or speech.

The gradual loss of language and ability to communicate whilst the underlying intelligence remains unaffected has been difficult to witness, and the visible frustration experienced is heartbreaking.

The Tavistock Trust

The Tavistock Trust aims to help improve the quality of life for those with aphasia, their families and carers.

The trust is the only grant making trust in the United Kingdom to focus solely on aphasia,

- funding pioneering research and projects that will improve services and therapies;

- pulling together charities working in the same area;

- raising the profile of the condition amongst the public, students of speech and language therapy and the medical profession,

- helping people understand aphasia better.

I hope you will help me support their good work.
