We are an independent Scottish charity for individuals and families affected by bleeding disorders such as Haemophilia and von Willebrands. We provide straightforward and trustworthy information; opportunities for peer to peer support; and advocate for the best possible treatment and care.

Story

In 2026, I will be taking on two marathons just five weeks apart — the Manchester Marathon on 19th April and the Edinburgh Marathon on 24th May — to raise money for Haemophilia Scotland, a charity that means so much to our family.

Our little boy, Theo, was diagnosed with Haemophilia B at birth. Haemophilia B is a rare genetic bleeding disorder where the blood doesn’t clot properly due to a lack of clotting factor IX. This condition runs in my partner Vicky’s family, and while it’s something Theo will live with for life, we are incredibly proud of the strength and courage he shows every single day.

At just 13 months old, Theo underwent surgery to have a port fitted so he could receive his treatment more safely. He now needs twice-weekly infusions, which we were trained to administer at home. There is currently no cure, but treatments continue to develop — and charities like Haemophilia Scotland play a huge part in making that progress possible.

Haemophilia Scotland offers vital support, raises awareness, campaigns for better treatment, and ensures families like ours never feel alone. Their work truly makes a difference to people living with bleeding disorders across the country.

Theo is the happiest, bravest little boy, and his condition has never held him back from doing anything he wants to do. He inspires us every day, and I’m running these marathons in honour of his strength, resilience, and for his future.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it will help support families affected by bleeding disorders and contribute to a future where treatment only continues to improve for children like Theo.

Thank you so much for your support. 💙🏃‍♂️
