The Marketside Tavern's fundraiser for Bowel Cancer UK

Nathan Hood is raising money for Bowel Cancer UK
In memory of Alan Hood

Music festival, fundraiser · 5 April 2026

We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

We're raising money for Bowel Cancer UK at our first annual Juddfest, taking place on Sunday 5th April 2026. This will be taking place at The Marketside Tavern in Bury, Lancashire.

The event will be a mini music festival, a fundraiser, and a celebration of a great man we lost last year.

Alan "Judd" Hood passed away in September 2025, and while Alan did not pass of bowel cancer, a screening he had 3 years ago preserved his life and gave him a few more quality years with us. The work that Bowel Cancer UK have done and continue to do have been something that we are most grateful for and the advice and support from Bowel Cancer UK assisted us in having those final years with him.

Alan was a huge supporter of our venture into the pub industry - a guiding voice throughout that we leaned on so heavily as we forged our own path. He was our family, our mentor, and the best Dad in the world.

This fundraiser is our way of saying THANK YOU for the tireless work that Bowel Cancer UK do, and to pay tribute to a great man. Here's to a wonderful celebration!

Much love,

Alan's family and the Marketside Tavern team
