My Story

My baby sister Lucy McLeavery passed away in May 2024 at the age of 48. This left her friends and family devistated and left me heartbroken.

Lucy grew up with disabilities and my mum was told she would never walk, you can understand that in the 70's most people accepted this. I am 2 years older than my sister and my brother 3 years older.

My sister was refered for therapy and we went to the White Lodge every week where Lucy had threapy for over 4 years. I remember the smiles and laughter of being there around my sisters attempts to walk and the other children attempting their own feats. I think about all of the miricals that happened in that hall and centre and that still do.

My Mum describes her tears of Lucy's first steps and some of the methods such as actual bricks in the walker to weigh it down. We do know that Lucy would not of walked had it been for the treatment and support of the White Lodge, i am pleased to see almost 50 years on they are still doing some amazing work and changing lives.

I would like to support this charity, they cannot do what they do without donations, by running the London marathon, raising money and awareness while also remembering my sister Lucy who was always so proud of my sporting achievements i beleive we can help.

I have set 3 events this year to challenge me to remember my Sister, April - London Marathon. May The Fred Whitton Bike ride and June - race to the Stones which is a 100K run.
