Story
Not my first big walk and hopefully not my last, but this will certainly be the biggest that I have taken on to date. The exact plan is still being refined but weather dependant I will be taken on the challenge in September and plan to complete in around 15 days. It will be a solo hike carrying everything I need on my back and camping along the route.
St Margaret’s has been helping patients, families and carers across Somerset facing a life-limiting illness for more than 40 years. They very much rely on the kind donations and if pushing my boundaries to walk a few miles can help raise them much needed funds then that what I will do.
About the walk:
Wainwright's coast to coast runs from the Irish Sea at St. Bees Head, it meanders its way across Northern England, 190 miles or so, to the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay. On the way it traverses through the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Although Wainwrights walk was first published in 1973 it only became an official national trail in August 2022
