Mark’s fundraiser for SAKA & the Transplant Games 26

Diane Peternel is raising money for SAKA
“Transplant Games”

on 9 August 2026

SAKA was set up in 1976 by a group of medical staff and renal patients. We aim to help kidney patients and their families cope with kidney failure and we raise funds for research into kidney disease. We give direct financial help to renal patients when they are struggling, and represent their views.

Story

Mark is going to be part of Team Sheffield for the British Transplant Games in August 2026. Mark will take part in the ten pin bowling and 5km walk as a competitor and then on the Sunday Jayne & Diane will join him for the 2.5km Donor Run/Walk to round of his event together.

SAKA is the local charity that supports both patients with kidney disease and also funds the kit and everything else needed for the team to attend the games.

Your support on Mark’s training journey will help to spur him on during his training with his PT Tom Broad. Stay tuned for more details!

SAKA exists to help and support all kidney patients in the Sheffield and surrounding area. CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) affects many people, particularly as they get older. Less than 1 in 10 of people with CKD will require dialysis or transplant during their lives.

Whatever stage patients are at, SAKA is there to help them, their families, friends and carers.
